Today’s San Francisco Chronicle, in a story titled “Gates 911 tape raises more issues in case,” is important because it mentions — and I’d like to highlight — something that happens every day.

And no, it’s not that the police are prejudiced and immediately suspect, stop and harass African-American males for being in the wrong place, any time.

Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right

A young person — I’m not going to provide any more identifying information than that individual did — left a comment to my article about “Defending Innocent People.” The comment is interesting on many different levels.

One of the things that really stood out, though, was this statement:

I do agree that a lot of people convicted are in fact guilty, and even if not for that particular crime than [sic] they probably did something before that and somehow got away with it.

You Just Got Pwned!

Most of my writing lately has had to be devoted to motions.  As California courts increasingly ignore the law, it seems more important — I’m not sure why, perhaps at least for future generations, sort of “a la the Declaration of Independence” — to document things, rather than try to wing it with the more ephemeral oral arguments.

In the course of working on a motion, I ran across this new argument, which can only be titled “You Just Got Pwned!”
